The World Architecture Festival has been bringing together the global architecture community for over a decade. Each year the event sees 1000s of architects, designers and suppliers come together to celebrate, learn, and discover. 

From 2008 - 2024

WAF 2024 Singapore

In 2024 the World Architecture Festival returned to Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from 6 - 8 November where 1800+ architects, designers, clients, suppliers and press came together to compete, be inspired and celebrate. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Darlington Public School by fjcstudio.

WAF 2023 Singapore

For the first time in almost 10 years the World Architecture Festival once again took place in the world-class venue Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from 29 November - 1 December 2023. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Huizhen High School by Approach Design Studio/Zhejiang University of Technology Engineering Design Group

WAF 2022 Lisbon

World Architecture Festival returned for its first in-person even since the pandemic. It took place in Lisbon on the 29 November - 1 December 2022. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Quay Quarter Tower by 3XN

WAF 2020 / 2021 Virtual

The combinded 2020/2021 virtual WAF took place in Decemeber 2021. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Copenhill/ Amager Bakke, B.I.G Architects

WAF 2019 Amsterdam

Over 2000 Architects and designers joined WAF in December 2019. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Civic architects, Braaksma & Roos Architectenbureau, Inside Outside / Petra Blaisse - LocHal Public Library, Tilburg, the Netherlands

WAF 2018 Amsterdam

In 2018 the 11th edition of WAF took place in Amsterdam in November. World Building of the Year was awarded to: WOHA Architects - Kampung Admiralty, Singapore, Singapore

WAF 2017 Berlin

The second and final WAF Berlin was held in November 2017. World Building of the Year: Chinese University of Hong Kong, Post-earthquake reconstruction/demonstration project of Guangming Village, Zhaotong, China

WAF 2016 Berlin

In November 2016 WAF moved to Germany. World Building of the Year was awarded to: National Museum in Szczecin - Dialogue Centre Przełomy, Szczecin, Poland by KWK Promes

WAF 2015 Singapore

The final event in Singapore took place in November 2015. World Building of the Year was awarded to: The Interlace, by Office for Metropolitan Architecture

WAF 2014 Singapore

The seventh annual event attracted over 2000 to Singapore in October. World Building of the Year was awarded to: The Chapel, Vietnam by a21studio

WAF 2013 Singapore

In October 2013 over 2100 designers and architects joined the event. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Auckland Art Gallery in New Zealand by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, fjmt + Archimedia - Architects in Association

WAF 2012 Singapore

Over 1800 attendees joined the event at the Marina Bay Sands in October 2012. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Cooled Conservatories at Gardens by the Bay in Republic of Singapore by Wilkinson Eyre Architects

WAF 2011 Barcelona

The final Barcelona installment took place November 2011. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Media-ICT in Spain, Barcelona by Cloud 9

WAF 2010 Barcelona

The third edition took place November 2010. World Building of the Year was awarded to: MAXXI, National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Italy, Rome by Zaha Hadid Architects[28]

WAF 2009 Barcelona

The second event took place November 2009. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Mapungubwe Interpretation Center in South Africa by Peter Rich Architects

WAF 2008 Barcelona

Held for the first time on 22–24 October 2008 in Barcelona and was attended by 1900. World Building of the Year was awarded to: Bocconi University, Italy (by Grafton Architects).
