We Care Therefore We Are - 10 Provocations Main Stage WAF
A discussion on the WAF main stage at 2pm on November 7 will reflect on the state of architectural practice today and prospects for tomorrow.
A collaboration between John Jennifer Marx, Founding Design Principal and Chief Artistic Officer of Form4 Architecture and WAF, it will focus on the opportunities and responsibilities arising from different legal systems and professional codes that shape contemporary practice across the world and inform the possibilities for creative design.
WAF Curator Jeremy Melvin will chair the discussion and joining Marx on the panel are Sonali Rastogi from Morphogenesis, Fleur Watson from RMIT and Islam Mashtooly of OBMI.
We Care Therefore We Are - 10 Provocations, written by Marx and Melvin sets out some of the points for discussion, and will be available at the entrance of the Festival and at the information point. View the booklet here.
As Marx writes, "The architect represented as both the juggler and the tightrope walker, can be seen as a great balancer who is particularly skilled at embracing paradox, who sees a big picture and the smallest of details, balances needs and aspirations, uses vision and collaboration to reach a shared destiny, understands the dynamics of efficiency, effectiveness and poetry.”
This initiative recognises that the models of practice are changing across the world due to political, environmental and social factors, and takes advantage of WAF as a forum for architects to meet and discuss how their profession will rise to these global challenges.
