Steve Melvin is the founder of Atelier Architecture + Design, an international design studio working across architecture and landscape. The practice has been shortlisted seven times at the World Architecture Festival across categories including Completed Buildings, Small Projects, Future Projects and the Visualisation Prize. Alongside practice, Steve teaches, writes and contributes to architectural discourse, with publications including the Journal of Biophilic Design and recent peer-reviewed research with the School of Collectively Building (SOCB) in Vienna on resonance in architecture. His work is informed by a long-standing engagement with landscape, including technical alpine climbing worldwide, and is focused on creating architecture that is calm, coherent and deeply connected to place, with a particular interest in spatial clarity and lived human experience.
