Ondrej Chybik (MAS ETH, ARB, RIBA, *1985, Brno, the Czech Republic) is a founding partner of CHYBIK + KRISTOF Architects, an international practice with studios in Prague, Brno, Bratislava and London. CH+K Architects’ work explores the layering of old and new within cities, where adaptive reuse and considered intervention create spaces that reflect a commitment to cultural continuity, social engagement, and environmental responsibility. Chybik studied at the Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic), with placements at TU Graz (Austria), graduating from ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and building early experience at the Viennese studio PPAG (Austria). His early explorations of informal urbanism in Rio de Janeiro, developed while participating in the ETH urban design studio, were exhibited in 2015 at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, as part of the exhibition Uneven Growth: Tactical Urbanism for Expanding Megacities. Chybik’s work with CH+K spans residential masterplans, civic and cultural institutions, educational and workplace, as well as public spaces. Notable recent work includes the Multipurpose Urban Arena, a 5,650-seat venue in the Jihlava, Czech Republic, as well as the Mendel Square and the refurbishment of the Gallery of Furniture - each exemplifying a careful dialogue between new architecture and the existing urban or cultural fabric. Across all scales, his work prioritises the shaping of character and experience, from the detailing of materials to an architecture that enhances connectivity, joy and use.
