Heather Dubbeldam is a fourth-generation architect and principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design, a Canadian studio recognized for its innovative and sustainable work. Her forward-thinking design approach, commitment to environmental and social sustainability, and belief in architecture and advocacy as tools for change have established her as a leading voice in Canadian architecture. Dubbeldam’s work has received more than 130 awards, including the Professional Prix de Rome and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Architectural Practice Award – two of the highest honours in Canadian architecture. More recently, her studio was named Best Small Firm at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards. Her work has been widely published internationally and was exhibited at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, where she represented one of nine internationally recognized women-led practices. Heather has served on numerous international awards juries and is regularly invited to lecture, speak, and participate in design forums around the world. In 2024, she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of her contributions to architecture in Canada.
