With a professional career spanning more than 40 years, the architectural production of Fernando Menis covers a wide variety of scales and typologies. A specialist in the design of concert halls and auditoriums, he has been internationally recognized and awarded for the development of an innovative variable acoustics system for the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall in Poland.
Among his built works, both independently and in collaboration, are the Espacio Cultural El Tanque Jardín (2022), the Bürchen Square in Bürchen (2015), the CKK Jordanki Concert Hall in Toruń (2015), the Insular Athletics Stadium in Tenerife (2007), Magma Arte & Congresos (2007), the Spree River Pool in Berlin (2004), the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands Headquarters in Tenerife (2000), Casa MM (1999), and the Drago Park in Icod de los Vinos (1998).
Projects currently underway include the Church of the Holy Redeemer of Las Chumberas in San Cristóbal de La Laguna; the rehabilitation and adaptation of the Viera y Clavijo Cultural Park in Santa Cruz de Tenerife; the Essential Services Buildings in Tenerife and Gran Canaria; and the Park Seo-Bo Art Museum in Jeju.
Awarded the Canary Islands Architecture Prize Manuel de Oráa on ten occasions, Fernando Menis has also received the International «Frate Sole» Prize for Sacred Architecture (2024); the European AHI Award for Intervention in Built Heritage (2023); the Faith & Form – AIA Interfaith Design International Award for Religious Architecture (2022); the Best Cultural Building in Poland Award (2015), granted by the National Council of Architects of Poland; the International CEMEX Award for Universal Accessibility (2016); the Taipei Design Award for Best Public Building (2016); the Prize of the V Spanish Biennial of Architecture (1998); the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025 Small Project of the Year for The Holy Redeemer Church and Community Centre of Las Chumberas; as well as the recognition Best Building WAF 2025, among other important international distinctions. On 9 March 2026, he was awarded the Premio Canarias 2026 in the International category, in recognition of his architectural career and international projection.
He holds a PhD in Architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de València. His work has been exhibited in several editions of the Venice Architecture Biennale and at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. The project of the Church of Las Chumberas forms part of the permanent collection of the MoMA, while the CKK Jordanki project is included in the permanent collection of the National Museum in Kraków in Kraków.
