WAF – coming to America!

WAF – coming to America!

World Architecture Festival

We have long wanted to hold WAF in the USA, and at last we have succeeded, writes Paul Finch.

Why America and why Miami? First, because it is the world’s biggest economy with an architect and designer population to match. Second because we can embrace the rest of North America, that is to say Canada. And third because of proximity to Mexico, Central and South America. In other words a series of vibrant, historic and active architectural cultures which have influenced and are influencing the entire world of architecture.

We undertook a reconnaissance trip to Miami as long ago as 2017, after attending that year’s AIA convention in Orlando. Alas, by the time we might have located there the pandemic had struck and everything went on hold. The Miami Beach Convention Center was being retrofitted. Happily circumstances have now allowed us to fulfil our ambition, and we look forward to being at the Center for the next two years.

We are holding a launch event at The Bass Museum of Art in Miami on the evening of Wednesday 5 November, so any WAF fans out there who would like to attend, just respond here. The next day we will be travelling up to New York for another launch, at our Founder Partner Grohe’s new showroom on Fifth Avenue. Places are limited, but if you are interested in attending, respond here.

We are hugely looking forward to the next two years, and hope you will join us on an exciting architectural journey.
