WAF attendees have the opportunity to take part in architectural tours of local landmarks and previous WAF award winning projects. All tours will be led by qualified architects and in some cases, the lead architect on the project itself.

Tours are included in the All Access and Premium Festival tickets. They are currently sold out but further spaces may become available in the coming weeks.

Tour: Gardens by the Bay

Leading the tour of this pioneering landmark in Singapore is Matthew Potter of Wilkinson Eyre and Patrick Bellew of Atelier Ten. Both practices worked on the masterplan that focused on the Bay South Garden which encompasses the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

This tour will include:
A drive by of the Garden Pod, a pioneering concept offering eco-friendly accommodation in the heart of the Gardens, and one of 2023's shortlisted WAF projects.
A 20 minute tour of the Supertree Observatory

Tour: Singapore Botanic Gardens - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Established in 1859, the 82-hectare Gardens holds a unique and significant place in the history of Singapore and the region. Derived from a concept by Sir Stamford Raffles, the Gardens played an important role in fostering agricultural development in Singapore and the region in the early years.

Led by a local architect, this tour will include access to the National Orchid Garden which was established in 1928 when the Gardens spearheaded orchid breeding and started its orchid hybridisation programme.

The Gardens has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) on 4 July 2015. The Gardens is the first and only tropical botanic garden on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

An icon of the 21st century, National Gallery Singapore elegantly integrates the historical former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings to become the largest and newest addition to Singapore's art museum landscape. The design by Studio Milou Singapore in partnership with CPG Consultants Pte Ltd introduces contemporary architecture to old buildings, rejuvenating them and maintaining a masterful balance between heritage and modernity.

This tour will focus on architectural highlights in the public areas, and also includes complimentary admission to the art galleries themselves.

Tour: Jewel at Changi Airport

Fulfilling its mission as a connector between the existing terminals, Jewel - designed by Safdie Architects - combines two environments—an intense marketplace and a paradise garden—to create a new community-centric typology as the heart, and soul, of Changi Airport. Jewel re-imagines the center of an airport as a major public realm attraction. Jewel offers a range of facilities for landside airport operations, indoor gardens, leisure attractions, retail offerings and hotel facilities, all under one roof. A distinctive dome-shaped façade made of glass and steel adds to Changi Airport's appeal as one of the world's leading air hubs.

Led by architects from Safdie Architects, delegates on this tour will experience a uniquely personal tour with first-hand information around the design and build, including access to the Level 5 Canopy Park.

Tour: Marina One

Marina One is a high-density, mixed-use building complex which supports Singapore’s ambition to become a ‘City in a Garden’. Designed by Ingenhoven Architects to appear as a plant-covered mountain rising into the Singapore skyline, the four-tower scheme includes lush planting, green sky terraces and tree-covered rooftops to integrate soft landscape into the fabric of the building. Gustafson Porter + Bowman’s design for the central, ‘Green Heart’ unifies the sculptural and planted elements of the building. ICN Design were appointed as the local Landscape Architect for the project, responsible for getting the project’s landscape installed and flourishing.

This tour will be led by Mary Bowman of Gustafson Porter + Bowman and Henry Steed of ICN Design who will offer a first-hand viewpoint having worked directly on the project.
