The Foundation of Civilization, the Future of Design
Natural stone has been at the heart of civilization, gracing the pages of history with its grandeur. As one of the first building materials discovered and utilized by humankind, natural stone has manifested in our lives through various types such as marble, granite, limestone, travertine, and basalt. Each type offers unique color, pattern, and durability characteristics, presenting users with diverse choices.
The Cradle of Civilization
To sustain its existence on Earth, humanity relied on natural stone for both tools and shelter. The use of natural stone became a fundamental element in the formation of civilizations.
One of the key factors that made Anatolia the cradle of civilization is its possession of this precious resource. The world's oldest known temple complex, Göbekli Tepe, stands as a testament to the fact that Anatolian natural stone has been serving humanity since 10,000 BC. The monumental structures and temples built with stonework in the Hittite capital of Hattusa in 2000 BC were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
A Legacy of Stonework
During the ancient Greek and Roman periods, structures such as the Celsus Library and the Grand Theater in Ephesus showcased the magnificence of marble since those times.
With around 150 ancient cities, Anatolia embraces the history of natural stone and serves as a home for humanity's historical memory.
A Natural Stone Paradise
Türkiye, the heir to this natural stone legacy, boasts approximately 650 varieties of marble in terms of color and pattern. Additionally, there are around 150 types of travertine, limestone, granite, and other natural stones. The presence of over 80 different types of marble and travertine alone transforms Türkiye's lands into a natural stone paradise.
Turkish Stones: The Homeland of Natural Stone
Turkish Stones, carrying this precious heritage, is recognized as the homeland of natural stone in the world, where the history of natural stone began. We remain committed to preserving this legacy.
Türkiye presents this natural stone wealth to designers, architects, and buyers with the patterns and colors of its unique and signature marbles such as Elazığ Vişne, Milas Lila, and Marmara Marble, as well as high-quality marbles such as Anadolu Beige, Anadolu White, Anadolu Black, and Anadolu Travertine. Being the world's leading natural stone source, Türkiye takes part in global architectural projects with these unique products.
The Best Use of Stone
There are many reasons why humans, who have used stone in every aspect of cultural, artistic, and daily life since the dawn of civilization, still prefer stone as one of their basic needs in the construction sector today.
As the Turkish Stones brand, we are introducing a new competition category called "Best Use of Stone" within the WAF organization this year to show special attention to the "stone usage" preferences of architects, engineers, artists, and decision-makers in the construction sector. Turkish Stones, capable of producing natural stone in any imaginable and designable form, sets out to share this knowledge and unique historical experience with the entire world. We believe that the award to be presented by Turkish Stones, the natural homeland of natural stone, will contribute to the development of the construction sector's vision regarding stone usage. We continue to cherish "natural stone", the core of life.
