What is WAF?

WAF is the only awards programme where all finalists present their projects live to a panel of judges at the festival in Singapore. Discuss your work and use their feedback to strengthen your future projects.

Categories 2024

This year's WAF and Inside judging panel's will boast over 140 leading architects, designers, journalists, and industry experts. Jury members already confirmed include Kelley Cheng, Sanjay Puri, Mariana Simas, Sonali Rastogi, Mario Cucinella, Emre Arolat, Ian Ritchie, Charu Kokate, Yael Reisner, Sir Peter Cook, Nigel Coates and more!

Huizhen High School by Approach Design Studio/Zhejiang University of Technology Engineering Design Group was crowned World Building of the Year, The Probiotic Tower, Cairo by design and more international took home the Future Project trophy, Benjakitti Forest Park: Transforming a Brownfield into an Urban Ecological Sanctuary by TURENSCAPE, Arsom silp Community and Environmental Architect was named as Landscape of the Year and SJB won the coveted World Interior of the Year title for their project 19 Waterloo Street.

What is WAFX?

Launched in WAF’s 10th year, WAFX celebrates international proposals which embrace cutting-edge design addressing major world issues. Ranging from tackling the climate emergency to building community resilience.

How to enter

All WAFX winners are chosen from the WAF Future Projects shortlist with no additional cost or material needed from the entrant. Winners will go on to present their project live at WAF in Singapore with an overall WAFX winner announced at the Gala Dinner.

2023 winners

The winning projects for each of the 2023 categories have been revealed. Rethinking Oil Rigs - Offshore Data Centres by Arup was chosen as the overall WAFX 2023 winner and announced during the festival in Singapore.

Recognising excellence

Alongside the WAF award categories are a host of special prizes awarded to projects from the main shortlist. Entrants do not have to pay any additional fees to be considered for the prizes.

Special prizes include The Futureglass Prize, supported by Aestech, International Building Beauty Prize, supported by Royal Fine Art Commission Trust and Ballymore, Best Use of Natural Light, supported by VELUX, The Water Prize, supported by GROHE, Best Use of Colour Prize, and Small Project of the Year.

Architecture Book of the Year Award

Publishers were invited to submit entries to the inaugural Architecture Book of the Year Award programme. 

The Visualisation Prize

Supported by Lumion

The fourth-annual Visualisation Prize brought the worlds of architecture and visualisation closer together. The finalists presented live at the festival in Singapore and the winner was announced at the Gala Dinner.

The Architecture Drawing Prize

Sponsored by Iris Ceramica and curated by WAF, Make Architects and Sir John Soane’s Museum, TADP celebrates the importance of drawing as a tool in capturing architectural ideas.
